Happy Journaling!

S – 1 Corinthians 14:39 So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.

O – Paul sums up the complex discussion on spiritual gifts by clearly stating the main point; prophesy is more desirable of the spiritual gifts because it builds up others, but speaking in tongues is still for today and a desirable gift as well.

A – I pray for the gift of prophesy and to be able to give words of encouragement to those with whom I come in contact. I don’t always know when I’m operating in the Spirit. In my mind there must be something obviously supernatural when I’m operating in the Spirit. So I doubt what is the Spirit and think it must just be my own stuff, but the truth of God’s Word tells me otherwise. Yesterday I had a word for for someone  and looking back I think it was a word from the Spirit. I shared it, but at the time I didn't know from where it came.  Ugh! I get so confused and God is not a god of confusion but of peace. I want to be bold and confident. I want to move in the Spirit and have the Spirit move in me. I want to be able to know when it is the Spirit and when it is me and my own experience. Does the Spirit use all of that mixed together? Or does a word from God always have to be something that there is no way I could have known it on my own?

P – Lord, I’m meeting with a friend for coffee this morning and I would love to be able to give her a word from you that encourages her. I also pray for your wisdom in helping with those you have placed in my path - fill me Holy Spirit. Fill me and help me to get out of your way. In Jesus’ Name – Amen.
